Inspired by the Punggol’s history of a fishing village, also known as Kelong, designers drew inspiration around the kelong where water ripples, wooden stilts, net ropes and schools of fishes envelops the gallery space.
All these elements are represented quite literally in the sales gallery. Net ropes are brilliantly installed behind the development’s wall. Water ripples are represented by the carpet pattern on the floor, with gentle shading of the blue area rug, crafted in a way to resemble shallow water ripples on the floor, a symbolic expression of the water, supporting the village’s eco system. The design of reception counter, model stand cabinet and LED panel are adapted from wooden stilts of traditional kelong.
The main feature of the sales gallery is a large school of fish, hung painstakingly over 100 hours that swim from the entrance all the way to the model area. It signifies the pouring of visitors towards the project. True enough, thousands thronged through the sales gallery during the April launch 2019 and recorded the highest sales for that period.
The hanging fishes’ gentle movement mimicked them swimming towards the model area, created a dramatic effect across the hall. The shadows of these 2000 fishes in the sales gallery also created the illusion of being under the sea, immersing visitors fully in the experience created by the designers.
