An Amazing site that benefits from a vista of Downtown Singapore with all bedrooms having a beautiful city view. These compact 2-bedroom units had 2 nicely fitted open concept kitchen and 2 bedrooms in each unit. They were originally separately by a load bearing slanted structure with a squarish living and dining layout in one unit and a linear rectangular space in the other. The brief and the challenge, however, was to amalgamate the 2 units, with 2 open concept kitchen into a sensible 4 bedroom unit that comes with a nanny’s room, an enclosed kitchen, a private dining space and a grand living cum entertainment space, for a family with very specific needs.

The new 4 bedroom unit will first have to shed off its first given impression as a compact 2 bedder upon entering and start to look like a grand 4 bedder. We had to first decide on the unit that would allow us to create the more spacious looking living hall. The other unit will then be used as a private dining space with an enclosed kitchen to support the main entertainment space. As there was only a small portion of the dividing wall we could remove to amalgamate the 2 units, without affecting the structural integrity of the building, we had to make sense of the main entrance and the circulation space adjoining the 2 units very quickly. The second open concept kitchen was redesigned into an illuminated bar, lending itself as an iconic feature to the entertainment hall.

The Master Bedroom would also be a sanctuary that is quiet and private. In order to tuck the Masters away from the entertainment space, SuMisura created a sunburst design on a double swing door just outside the 2 bedrooms corridor way as an art piece that lends itself as a backdrop for the living hall, as well as, a grand entrance into a pocket foyer space before entering into the master suite. An additional layer for the purpose of privacy and acoustic control.
